The 2020 Pygmalion Chardonnay is a rich and structured wine, packed with citrus characters, honeydew melon, and pineapple with underlying hazelnut and almond characters.
The grapes are whole bunch pressed into Burgundy barrels where they undergo natural fermentation using indigenous yeast. The wine has matured a further 20 months in barrel with frequent lees stirring
“The 2020 Chardonnay Pygmalion was grown in the Crouch Valley of Essex. The fruit was fermented in various-sized oak barrels and aged for two years before bottling. The nose offers a melted butter aroma and a delicious crackle of reduction. The palate is concentrated, still holding that reductive streak. It pushes ahead with a sinewy boldness, filling the mouth and mind. The 2020 is pure, driven long, and so very fresh. It’s lovely now and certain to continue evolving.” 2025 – 2035
93 Points, Anne Krebiehl, Vinous, April 2025
“Comparisons are odious, I know, but there is something distinctly Chablis-esque about this wine. The acidity is crystal cut, slicing the fruit with prismic precision, taut as piano string. Very pure citrus running the length of the wine in a line of fierce focus. A wraith of soft smoke, and something roasted-oats savoury developing in the wings. Still very youthful, though. Another English Chardonnay that was beautiful with slow-cooked lamb. It was also pretty good with traditional horiatiki Greek salad. “ (TC) Jancisrobinson.com
The 2023 Tamesis Bacchus is fermented using natural yeasts in a combination of old French oak barrels and steel tank; followed by naturally occurring malolactic fermentation and aged for 7 months on gross lees. A wine that truly expresses the varietal essence with nuances of elderflower, white peach, and white pepper with touches of sweet spices and tropical fruit. Unfined and unfiltered.
The 2022 Controversy Pinot Meunier is grown in Sussex, just 35 miles from our winery, the grapes are hand-picked and sorted in the vineyard. Whole bunch pressed and fermented using indigenous yeast in old burgundy barrels. The wine underwent natural malolactic fermentation and aged for a total of 7 months with frequent lees stirring. Our Pinot Meunier is a delicate interpretation of the variety lending itself to aromas of raspberry, mandarin peel, red floral notes, grapefruit, with hints of citrus zest, and dried cranberry.
Matthew Jukes, Money Week “It is sensational, challenging, rare and unmissable and I feel that is like finding a missing page in the encyclopedia of wine.” - 2019 Vintage
…and if you want something bigger - don’t forget the Pygmalion Chadonnay is also available in magnum.
