A trio of golds
We're delighted to share we've won not one not two, but three gold medals in this year's Wine GB Awards, recognising the best of English winemaking talent across the country and beyond.
2022 “I’d rather be a rebel” rosé
Taking the top scoresis our textural, expressive rosé rebellious in nature because it has been deliberately aged to give it a bit more complexity than you might otherwise expect. It also challenges the previous norm that England can only make rosé when it's sparkling. Made from Pinot Noir grapes grown in Essex this brims with ripe red cherry, strawberries and cream.
Blackbook 2023 Pygmalion.
A 100% Chardonnay from the Crouch Valley in Essex: hand picked, whole bunch pressed and fermented in barrel of varying sizes. This was then left to age gracefully for 24months, with frequent lees stirring - giving a textured, structured, delicious English Chardonnay ripe with aromas of citrus zest, melon, white floral notes and subtle spices.
2020 Painter of Light Reserve
Completing the trio of Golds is a wine we are maybe most proud of because it underlines the reasons why we set up Blackbook in the first place: to make excellent cool climate still Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Also from Essex, with an additional 3 years of ageing, and only 300 bottles made - when it's gone it's gone.
